Abstract
Purpose: The CT dose index value reported on a CT scanner during a patient exam (i.e., CTDIvol) does not represent the absorbed dose to the patient on which the scan was performed. To address the desire by the medical community to estimate actual patient dose, AAPM Report 204 published in 2011. Afterward, the AAPM published AAPM report No 293 in 2019. This article purpose was introduce to new AAPM report No. 293 and No. 220 about size specific dose estimate.

Material and Method: This article reviewed to the AAPM report No. 204, No. 293 and No. 220.

Results: This AAPM report No. 293 introduced to size specific dose estimate of head CT. And in 2014, the AAPM published to AAPM report No. 220. This report introduced to use of water equivalent diameter for calculating patient size and size-specific dose estimates (SSDE) in CT.

Conclusions: Both report will be help to reduce patient dose and understanding of CT dose information.
